Pastor Alfred Lee Smith Jr.

Reverend Alfred Smith is Senior Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, Ansonia, CT after serving 4 1/2 years as Pulpit Supply Minister. Reverend Smith is currently working as an In School Suspension Coordinator at Plainville High School. He helps young people being disciplined for conflicts in the classroom, to learn new techniques and to stay current with their academic workload.  Reverend Smith worked at Plainville High School in several capacities fulltime between 1999 - 2011.  In 2006 the Varsity Basketball team went on to win their first championship in 40 years with Reverend Smith as their assistant coach.  Reverend Smith worked as a Case Worker for Families in Crisis New Haven, CT facilitating Domestic Violence classes for men charged with violence against women from January 2011 to March 2015.  He also coordinated Fatherhood classes at Manson Youth Institute in Cheshire, CT, helping inmates stay connected with their children while incarcerated.

Pastor Smith has worked as a broadcaster on many stations across Connecticut, New York and Niagara Falls. He also has under his belt New York National Black Network News and Sports Anchor for 150 urban formatted Radio Stations. Reverend Smith worked as a morning newscaster at WYBC FM radio station of Milford, Connecticut.

Reverend Smith Pastored at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church of New Britain from Jan 1992- 2007. He encouraged and advised the church body to be their best for their Master as their pastor, teacher and counselor. Reverend Smith has held the longest tenure in the church’s history. Under his tenure the church purchased a 2 million dollar, 3 building campus facility where they started a community based ministry including a food pantry and soup kitchen.

Pastor Smith graduated from Lafayette High School in Buffalo, New York June 1973. He also graduated Advanced Training Center Broadcasting School Tonanda, New York with a certificate in Radio and TV Broadcasting with a Third class license endorsed by the FCC. Reverend Smith attended Buffalo State and Medaille College, CCSU.  Reverend Smith completed 5 of 6 classes at the Hartford Seminary Black Minister Certificate Program. He attended Cambridge College in Springfield, Massachusetts from 1993-1996 and received his certificate in the GSPP, that allowed him to be entered into the Masters Education Program, graduating in June 1996 with a Master of Education Degree.

After an unanimous vote of the membership, Pastor Smith was installed as Senior Pastor on June 12, 2016 at the Macedonia Baptist Church.  Pastor Smith is joyfully married to Mrs. Brenda Faye Smith.  He is the proud father of five adult children: daughters Monique, Chauntaul, Athalia, Naomi and son Darius.
